Oglethorpe rallies from a two-set deficit for a 3-2 comeback win

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2016)  Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Oglethorpe rallied from an early two-set deficit to edge the Sewanee volleyball team, 3-2, Saturday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

Sewanee opened by winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21. However, OU rallied in the third and fourth sets to tie the match. In the final set, OU jumped out early to a 6-3 lead before Stephanie Price had a kill. Sewanee would actually pull to within one at 9-8 after a kill by Anna Wilson. Unfortunately, OU rallied back winning the set and match at 15-13.

Overall, Sewanee hit .138 while OU hit .158. Neither team had more than 54 total kills in a combined 374 attacks.

Savannah Hockman and Ashlee Tolbert led OU with a match-high 14 kills. Senior Diamond Stewart led the Tigers with 11 kills while Wilson finished with a career-high 21 assists and 15 digs.

Fellow setter Constance Connolly added 15 assists and eight digs while seniors Sara Jayne Sutton and Kristy Gray both finished with 19 stops. Additionally, Stewart also had double-digit digs with 18.

With their home season completed, the Tigers return to action with a 5:30 p.m. (EST) match at Centre, Tuesday.
