Volleyball splits a pair of matches to open Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2016)  The Sewanee volleyball team opened the Rhodes Invitational by splitting a pair of matches, Friday.

The Tigers first improved to 5-0 this season with a 3-1 win over regional-rival Covenant. Sewanee then dropped a 3-1 decision to LaGrange to close out the opening night.

Overall, senior outside hitter Diamond Stewart finished with 35 kills and 18 digs. Fellow seniors Kristy Gray and Sara Jayne Sutton also played well. Gray added 22 digs while Sutton made 36 stops.

At the setter position, freshman Anna Wilson finished with 48 assists and 23 digs. Finally, classmate Constance Connolly pitched in 33 assists and 14 digs.
