Karagan Day Garners All-Region Honors by the USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday, Sewanee's Karagan Day has earned All-South/Southeast Region honors in the javelin.

The senior captured the win in the event three times this season, with two of those victories coming in the outdoor season at the Mountain Laurel Twilight Invitational held on campus in April and the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet in Delaware, Ohio last week.

The All-Southern Athletic Association Second Team member threw her career mark three times in six attempts at the 2018 SAA Championships in April, finishing with a throw of 40.62 meters, good for 27th among Division III participants and second in the region for the Spring Branch, Texas native.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during the cross country and indoor track & field season.
