SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2015) – Led by a new school record from senior Amy Nelson, the Sewanee track and field teams performed well at their annual Tiger Indoor Invitational, Saturday, inside the Fowler Athletic Center.
Nelson tossed a new record distance of 12.68m on her first attempt. That gave her a fourth place finish in the event.
Along with Nelson, Tyler Fishback was outstanding in his field events. Fishback finished second in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.85m. The first-year Tiger finished ahead of athletes from Emory, Carson-Newman, Birmingham-Southern, and Oglethorpe.
In the men's spirits, Cortez Brown finished ninth in the 55-meters with a time of 6.68 seconds.
"Despite having only a limited team competing today, I was proud of the effort and solid performances that I saw today," said head coach Jeff Heitzenrater.
Sewanee continues its season when the Tigers host the Sewanee Indoor Invitational on February 28.
