GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced on Monday its 2019 All-Region Teams. Two Sewanee women's lacrosse players were selected to the postseason team.
After earning a First Team All-Conference selection earlier this spring, Bulls earns her first All-Region nod as a sophomore. The Woodstock, Md. native forced a team-high 43 turnovers, good for third-best in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and racked up 59 ground balls for fifth place in the league.
Young earns her second All-West Region honor by the coaches association. The Feeding Hills, Mass. native went 6-5 on the year with a 54.0 save percentage, stopping 94 of 174 shots. Averaging 8.66 goals allowed in 554 minutes, the senior concludes her four-year career with a 26-19 record with 381 saves and a 54.3 save percentage.
A total of nine student-athletes from the SAA were honored on the All-West Region Team.
The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2019. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team.
The IWLCA will celebrate the 2019 All-Americans during Divisional All- American Specials, which will be aired on Lax Sports Network in mid-June.
Sewanee women's lacrosse finished the 2019 season with a 12-7 record and earned an appearance in the semifinals of the SAA Tournament.
