MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Sewanee cross country teams got back to the races Saturday at the University of Montevallo's Falcon Classic. Competing with all NCAA levels, junior colleges and NAIA institutions, the men's team finished 19th out of 25 teams and second among Division III institutions ahead of Emory. The women's team earned a 13th place finish out of 22 institutions, second among Division III schools.

-Running in their first 5K race of the 2018 season, the Tigers finished ahead of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent Birmingham-Southern in the meet.
-Ann Chapman Haynes led the way with an 82nd place finish out of 195 runners with a 21:50.32 time.
-Maren Czura finished 88th with a 22:06.39, while Meg Legro earned a 22:15.38 time.
-Hannah Faulkner recorded a 22:39.55 time, while Adriana Hibarra posted a 22:45.52 time.
-Running the first 8K race of 2018, just like the women, the men's team also finished ahead of BSC in the event.
-Jack Barganier led all Sewanee runners with a 28:38.92 time for a 107th place finish out of 227 runners.
The Tigers will next run Sept. 29 at the Sewanee Invitational.
