James Hoyt Named Tiger of the Week

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Freshman swimmer James Hoyt has been named Tiger of the Week after his performances in the pool last Friday against Birmingham-Southern.

In the 1,000 yard freestyle event,his name was inked in the record books, as he swam to a time of 10:03.67 in the event, surpassing Peter Schildknecht's 10:03.86 mark in 2011 by 0.19 seconds.

He also competed in the 500-yard freestyle, where the freshman won the event with a 4:59.57 mark.

Going into the conference meet, the Mountain Brook, Ala. native holds the best times in the 500 freestyle, 1,000 free, 1,650 free and the 200 butterfly.

Hoyt and the rest of the Tigers return to the pool for the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships, beginning Feb. 14.
