SEWANEE, Tenn. - The 2018 edition of the Sewanee field hockey program saw the team hit the double-digit mark in wins for the first time since 2015 with 10 of them.
Sewanee finished the 2018 campaign with a 10-6 record, taking wins over Wittenberg and Bridgewater in non-conference play. The Tigers claimed victories over Hendrix, Transylvania and Concordia Wisconsin in non-conference play.
The Tigers made a trip to the SAA Tournament as a quarterfinalist. Finishing with 10 wins, it is the first time since the 2015 season that the team has bolstered a double-digit season in the win column.
Yea, Sewanee Fog!
With the weather on the Domain, there may be chances of rain, snow and even fog. Two of those instances happened on a Monday evening, October 15. Sewanee was battling with Roanoke, but in the 50th minute, the contest was halted and the dance party began on the field for the next hour until officials suspended the contest.
The teams would resume the contest the next day.
Memorable Game | Sewanee vs. Bridgewater, Sept. 23
Sewanee, after dropping a close contest with Ohio Wesleyan, won the last five games when Bridgewater came to the Mountain.
The Eagles tried to end the Tigers' winning streak with an early goal two minutes into the contest.
However, the team, despite a 90-minute lightning delay, were forced to play overtime. Apparently, lightning, once again, found Caffrey's stick, as she found the back of the cage for the game-winner with 1:34 left in the extra session to extend Sewanee's winning streak to six games.
With her efforts, Caffrey was named the SAA Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
