SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior Rider Aelin Hill wrapped up competition at the 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association this weekend at the Expo Center at the New York State Fairgrounds.
Competing in two phases on Friday, the senior scored identical 71 scores in both the Equitation Over Fences and in the Equitation Over Flat as she finished in a tie for 15th place out of 24 riders.
The Mequon, Wis. native qualified for the Show with a second place finish in the Cacchione Cup Zone Championships at Auburn University. She won the Fences portion while placing second in the flat.
Hill was named a Regional Champion after being named the High Point Rider for Zone 5, Region 1. Additionally, she won the Open Individual Fences at Regionals.
Prior to her classes on Friday, she met Bob Cacchione, founder of the IHSA. He posed for a photo with Hill, along with Equestrian Coach Emily Cavender and Director of Equestrian Karine Gordy.
Hill becomes the fifth student-athlete from The University of the South to compete in the Cacchione Cup at the National Championships. She becomes the first since 2015 that a rider competed for the Cup.
