ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Monday, freshman middle blocker Ellie Pedersen has been named the SAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after leading her team to a perfect 3-0 weekend.
Playing in just two sets against Centre, the Franklin, Tenn. native recorded nine kills on 16 attempts, scoring 10.5 points, as the Tigers defeated the Colonels, 3-1.
On Saturday at Rhodes, the freshman posted 13 kills on 15 attempts and recorded 14.5 points in the sweep over the Lynx.
Sunday against Hendrix, after losing to the Warriors in a five-set bout in Sewanee, the Tigers returned the favor with a road victory in five sets. In the match, she killed 14 attacks on 32 attempts and recorded 15 points.
For the week, Pedersen recorded 36 kills and a .571 attack percentage without committing an error.
In her last six conference matches, Pedersen has not committed an error, while recording an attack percentage of .544 (56-0-103).
In conference play, she has tabulated a .429 attack percentage (127-14-264), good for tops in the SAA.
Pedersen and the rest of the Tigers return to the court Nov. 2 for the SAA Volleyball Tournament, as they face Rhodes in the quarterfinal round.
