Destiny Stewart Wraps Up Freshman Campaign with All-American Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced on Tuesday the NCAA Division III AVCA All-Americans. After being named the South Region Freshman of the Year, outside hitter Destiny Stewart was selected as an honorable mention.

In total, 98 players were named Honorable Mention to go with 42 players named to an All-America Team for a grand total of 140 NCAA Division III student-athletes.

Stewart, who was also named Newcomer of the Year by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), completed her freshman campaign with 424 kills, 4.33 per set. Both statistical categories good for tops in the SAA. The Alpharetta, Ga. native finished with 474 points, averaging 4.8 points per set, both good for tops in the conference.

On the attack, she finished with 1,048 attacks and a .272 attack percentage, good for third in the SAA.

Nationally, the freshman finished the regular season ranked 10th in kills per set, 12th in points per set, 36th in total kills and 50th in attacks per set.

On the season, Stewart finished with 13 double-doubles. Of her 27 matches, she only had three single-digit kill performances, while posting 20 or more kills seven times. There were three matches this season where she hit over .500: .651 vs. Huntingdon (31 kills-3 errors-43 attacks), .588 vs. Berea (11-1-17) and .528 at Oglethorpe (22-3-36).
