No. 15 Sewanee wins eighth straight win victory at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. (April 13, 2013) – The No. 15 Sewanee women's tennis team earned its eighth straight victory after the Tigers breezed past Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps, Saturday, at the Coach Montgomery Courts in Jackson, Miss.

The Tigers opened the 8-1 win by sweeping all three doubles matches.

In singles action, Sewanee kept rolling. At the No. 2 position Annie Veron cruised past Callie Creekmore by a pair of 6-1 set wins. Senior teammate Anne Garland then dominated Laura Kebert by a score of 6-3, 6-1.

At the No. 4 position Julia Wood had little trouble with Anna Brahce with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

On the final two courts, Liz Lucas earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Bianca Suarez at No. 5 and Elske Parker dominated Katie Wroblewski by a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The Majors lone win came when Li Kam Wa defeated Lindsey Liles at No. 1.

The Tigers will quickly return to action with a 9:00 a.m. match at Birmingham-Southern, Sunday.
