Tigers roll over BSC 22-8 in SAA semifinals

DANVILLE, Ky. (April 26, 2014) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team earned a return trip to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship match with a convincing 22-8 win over Birmingham-Southern, Saturday, at the South Campus Complex.

Sewanee will now take on rival Centre for the title on Sunday.

The Tigers opened with 13 goals in the first half and nine in the second.

As a team Sewanee led in shots, draw controls, clears, and groundballs.

Individually, Katie Riddle finished with a career-high seven goals and three assists. Mallory Grimm also played well with five goals and one assist.

Along with both those players, Brita Brudvig, Janie Hannon, Wittney Reed, Ella Richardson, and Sally Anne Greenwood also scored.

The final Tiger to find the back of the net was junior Ellie Murphy. After missing the majority of the season with an injury, Murphy returned to the lineup and scored once and also had two assists.

In goal, freshman Crawford Horan earned the win after she made 13 saves.
