Tigers top Transy on senior day, 19-9

SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 21, 2013) –After honoring seniors Molly Arnold, Anna Morrow, and Olivia Vietor the Sewanee women's lacrosse team closed out its regular season on senior day by defeating Transylvania 19-9 Sunday at Puett Field.

The Tigers jumped out to a 10-3 halftime lead after Arnold, Vietor, Sally Anne Greenwood, Caitlin-Jean Juricic, Lillie Belle Viebranz, and Payton Fields all scored.

In the second half Sewanee continued to roll, when Wittney Reed, Mallory Grimm, Emily Hylton, Chelsea Staunton,Juricic, and Arnold all fired in goals.

In fact on the final goal by Arnold, defender Eliza Chapman started a long fast break after she picked up a ground ball and found Juricic at mid-field. From there, the Tigers easy cleared the ball to Arnold, who scored.

Overall, Sewanee had 16 draw controls including a career-high eight by Morrow. Additionally, the Tigers outshot Transy, 32-19.

Sewanee will now prepare for the upcoming SAA Tournament where the Tigers will host Berry in the semifinals next Saturday. Draw control of that match is scheduled to begin at noon at Puett Field.
