Top two SAA teams meet when Tigers host Berry, Friday

SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 28, 2013) – In a match that should help decide the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Lacrosse Regular Season Championship, Sewanee welcomes Berry for a 2:00 p.m. match Friday at Puett Field.

The Tigers (8-4, 3-0 SAA) host the Vikings with a one-game lead in the current SAA standings. A win by Sewanee would guarantee the Tigers home field advantage in the SAA Tournament and would give Sewanee the regular season crown.

Berry, who is also unbeaten in conference play, would need a victory Friday and then at least one win over either Millsaps or Centre.

Sewanee enters the weekend on a four-match winning streak. After a 19-11 loss to Elizabethtown March 9th, the Tigers have consecutive victories over FDU-Florham, Benedictine, Pomona-Pitzer, and Oglethorpe.

Individually, Sewanee has used a balanced offensive attack. Over the past four matches, 12 Tigers have scored at least one goal.

On defense freshman keeper Sammy Strasburger continues to play well. The Houston, Texas native leads the league in saves (115), wins (8), goals-against average (10.96), and save percentage (47.7).

Berry (5-5, 2-0 SAA) travels to the Domain after topping Oglethorpe, 20-4. After struggling on the road early this season, the Vikings have won their last two contests away from Ford Field.

Individually, Kristan Dziurynski leads the conference with 40 goals. The junior attacker has scored in every match this season.

The Tigers and Vikings have met twice previously with both teams splitting those contests.
