Late Rally by Women’s Basketball Comes Short at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Sewanee women's basketball team suffered a 67-61 defeat at Covenant Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After a back-and-forth opening quarter, the Tigers struggled from the field in the second period. Sewanee only connected on four field goals, one 3-pointer.

-Covenant used a 9-2 run for nearly six minutes to take a 31-25 lead into the locker room.

-In the second half, Sewanee got the deficit as low as four points, but the Scots held on for the victory.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lakeisha Phillips recorded her first career double-double with a career performance, scoring a game-high 19 and grabbing 11 boards.

-Kinsley Logan scored 15 points, while Sue Kim added six dimes.

COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Joanna Smith led the Scots with 11 points.
