SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee softball team, in its home opener, earned a split of Friday's doubleheader, falling 15-5 in game one before walking off to a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-Centre recorded the first six runs of the contest in the first five and a half innings.
-Sewanee responded with a four-spot in the bottom half of the frame, led by a Katie Bender two-run RBI single.
-However, up 6-4, Centre responded with a nine-run seventh to seal the win in the opener.
In the second, the Colonels scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead.
-Katie Roth made it a 3-2 contest with an RBI groundout
-After launching a homer at the end of game one, O'Reilly went deep again, this time a two-run shot to give Sewanee the 4-3 advantage.
-Centre responded again with a RBI double to even the score at four runs apiece in the third.
-The teams went scoreless in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
-In the top of the seventh, after a leadoff walk and a sacrifice bunt, the Sewanee defense forced two groundouts to send the contest into the bottom half of the seventh.
-With the daylight slipping away, O'Reilly led off the bottom half of the seventh with a single.
-With two strikes, Taylor Wagner sent the ball to the right side and found the outfield grass to bring home the winning run.
-Jackie O'Reilly (2-6) went four innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits and hit a homer in game one. In game two, to go with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate with a homer, the freshman tossed a complete game, allowing three earned runs on eight hits.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Lauren Richards went 3-for-5 with four RBI in game one, and Abigail Harper collected two hits in game two.
-Erika Brewer (5-2) allowed four hits in five shutout innings for Centre in the opener.
-Torey Hawkins (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing nine hits in 4.1 innings and five earned runs.
