NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Sewanee Cross Country teams were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Individual and Team All-Academic Awards, announced on Friday.

Owen Legrone, who finished as All-South/Southeast Region back in November, was named as an All-Academic individualist.

In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

There were 668 student-athletes named USTFCCCA All-Academic with women accounting for 55 percent of that total number (368).

As at team, the men's program finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.47, while the women accomplished a team GPA of 3.21.

For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 388 teams honored by the USTFCCCA today. Of those teams, 221 of them were women's programs and 167 of them were men's.
