SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's tennis team finished the 2018 season matching last year's win total, as the Tigers earned their sixth straight Southern Athletic Association Regular Season and Tournament Championship.
The 2018 edition of Sewanee men's tennis team matched its win total of 2017 with 22 wins, as the program finished with a 22-6 overall record and a 23rd ranking in the final Oracle/ITA Division III rankings.
The Tigers captured their sixth consecutive Southern Athletic Association Regular Season and Tournament championship in April thanks to a 6-0 record. In six years of the SAA, Sewanee is 37-1 against conference foes.
With the win in the SAA Tournament, the Tigers made their 16th appearance to the NCAA Championships and faced N.C. Wesleyan in the second round at Emory University in Atlanta.
In doubles play, Jack Metzger led the team with an 18-7 doubles record, with a 13-6 record coming at the No. 3 flight. Becker posted a 17-6 record with a partner, while Brewer went 15-8 in doubles.
Finished ranked 27th in the final Singles poll, Jack Gray made an appearance in the 2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship.

After dropping their first match in California, 5-4, to Swarthmore, the Tigers rebounded in a big way with then No. 12 Whitman. Ranked 23rd at the time, Sewanee took two of three doubles matches, with both wins going into tiebreaks.
