Shackelford and Mann named ITA Atlantic South Coaches of the Year

SEWANEE, Tenn. (May 18, 2017) – Sewanee men's tennis head coach John Shackelford and assistant coach Felix Mann were both honored with regional awards by Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Wednesday.

Shackelford was named the Atlantic South ITA Coach of the Year while Mann was named the Atlantic South ITA Assistant Coach of the Year.

Under both coaches, the Tigers had a stellar 2017 season. Sewanee was ranked No. 22 in the latest ITA poll while posting a final record of 22-4. The three losses for Sewanee all came from ranked programs.

Additionally, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Championship match after defeating long-time rival No. 29 Washington & Lee.

In conference action, Sewanee posted a perfect 7-0 record and won its fifth straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
