Tigers Move to 3-0 in SAA Play with 11-6 Win over Colonels

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in Southern Athletic Association play with an 11-6 victory over Centre College on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers started the scoring with a Daniel Burnum goal with 1:13 left in the opening period.

-In the second quarter, the Tigers picked up four goals to lead 5-2 at the break. Hayden Hunt scored two goals in the period (14:08 and 5:00).

-The visitors pushed the lead to 8-2 after three quarters of play before Centre won the final 15 minutes, 4-3, but it was the Tigers who claimed the road win, 11-6.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Jake Vaughn and Hayden Hunt each recorded a hat trick in the win for the Tigers.

-Grant Gilmore caused two turnovers, and Ryan Stubits won 9-of-17 faceoffs.

-Tal Wharton (3-1) saved 13 shots in full time in the cage.

CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Nic Malubay led the Colonels with three goals.

-Sam Long (4-6) saved 14 shots in 60 minutes in the cage.

UP NEXT
The Tigers will next host Rhodes for first place in the SAA standings. Faceoff is slated for under the lights on Friday, April 6, beginning at 7 p.m.
