Sewanee’s season ends with NCAA Tournament loss at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (May 7, 2014) – A fast start helped ODAC Champion Lynchburg to a 25-4 NCAA Tournament First-Round win over the Sewanee men's lacrosse team, Wednesday, at Shellenberger Field.

The Hornets scored 10 goals on 15 shots in the first period en route to taking a 18-3 lead by halftime. The three goals in the first half by Sewanee were by George Bukawyn, Michael Morris, and Matthew Stiefel.

Out of the locker room, Lynchburg continued to roll with seven more goals. The Tigers did add one final score to open the fourth period as Morris netted his final goal of his storied career.

Overall, the two-time SAA Offensive Player of the Year finished his career with two goals and two assists.

The biggest reason behind the score was Lynchburg's ability to hold possession. The Hornets won 21 face-offs, which helped lead to 52 shots.

After winning its second SAA Regular Season Championship, the Tigers finished their season with a 12-5 overall record and their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
