Sewanee blows out Millsaps, 22-4

JACKSON, Miss. (March 30, 2014) – The Sewanee men's lacrosse team stayed unbeaten in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a strong 22-4 win at Millsaps, Sunday, at Harper Davis Stadium.

The Tigers now sit with a 6-3 overall record and a perfect 3-0 mark in league play. 

Sewanee wasted little time taking control of the match. The Tigers outscored Millsaps 10-2 in the first half and then added nine more goals in the third period. Sewanee then stretched its lead to the final margin with a 3-2 advantage in the fourth.

Individually, senior Michael Morris tied his career high with six goals while freshman Matthew Stiefel finished with a new career-high five goals.

Cotter Brown, Hayden Byrd, Davis Brown, Charles Richardson, Jess Hilb, Brooks Robinson, George Bukawyn, Reed Daniel, and Ian Gillan also scored.

As a team Sewanee dominated the possession battle with more shots, face-offs, and groundballs then the Majors.

Winners of three straight matches, Sewanee continues SAA play with a rematch of last season's conference championship contest against Berry, Saturday. The Tigers and Vikings are scheduled to face-off at 1:00 p.m. at Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.
