Tigers blow out Benedictine, 19-5
SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 20, 2013) – Paced by a season-high 19 goals, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team quickly dismissed visiting Benedictine 19-5 Wednesday afternoon at Harris Stadium.
The Tigers (6-2) quickly jumped out front by outscoring Benedictine 6-0 by the end of the first period. In the second things did not change much, as Sewanee jumped out to an 11-2 lead by halftime.
In the second half, Sewanee kept rolling. The Tigers added eight more goals to set up the final 14-goal margin.
Junior Michael Morris led the attack with four goals and four assists. Additionally, Cotter Brown, Pierce Leonard, Davis Brown, Marty Johnson, Conley Street, Peter Rydell, Reed Daniel, John Stiefel, Joe Irby, and Jack Murray also added scores.
On defense the Tigers forced 27 turnovers and allowed only 21 shots. Comparably the Tigers finished with 62 attempts.
Sewanee will now look to extend its winning streak to three with a 3:00 p.m. (EST) match at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Oglethorpe, Saturday.
