
SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee field hockey team evened the contest at the half, but a 47th-minute goal by Rhodes saw the Tigers drop their Southern Athletic Association opener, 3-2, Saturday afternoon from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite out-shooting the home team, 12-4, Rhodes saw themselves down early. In the 12th minute, Ceara Caffrey found Hadley Meadows' pass for her 16th goal of the season to strike first.
-About a minute and a half later, the Lynx responded with a goal by Hailey Mules to even the score up.
-In the 27th minute, Lizzie Wood gave the visitors a 2-1 lead thanks to her ninth goal of the year off a Mules pass.
-With two minutes left in the first half, Sewanee tied the game back up with a Hannah Tompkins goal via an Elisabeth Domittner penalty corner.
-The score of 2-2 would hold going into the locker room, but in the 47th minute, Mules was there again with her second goal of the contest, which would be the eventual game-winner.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-The Tigers took six shots on the contest, but they used them effectively. Hannah Tompkins led the Tigers with three shots, two on goal, and scored once.
-Ceara Caffrey scored a goal on two shots.
-Rachel Blum (1-2) saved 13 shots in 70 minutes in the cage.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Hailey Mules took seven shots, six on goal, and scored twice. She also assisted on a goal.
