SEWANEE, Tenn. - Nine home contests highlight the Sewanee field hockey schedule, as third-year head coach Laura "Mac" McIntyre announces the 2018 schedule for the program.
The team will open the 2018 season at home the weekend of Sept. 1-2 when Ohio Wesleyan, Eastern Mennonite (Va.) and Transylvania (Ky.) make the trek to the domain. The Tigers will face Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Eastern Mennonite on Sunday, Sept. 2.
The following weekend, the Tigers will travel to Memphis to battle Wittenberg (Ohio) at Rhodes College on Sept. 9.
Sewanee will make its longest trip of the season the weekend on Sept. 14-15, when they travel to Boston to face Becker (Mass.) and Elms (Mass.).
Following their trip to the northeast, the Purple and Gold return home for another weekend tourney. Rhodes, Bridgewater (Va.) and Converse (S.C.) make the trip to the Cumberland Plateau on Sept. 22-23. Sewanee will do battle with Converse on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Bridgewater on Sunday, Sept. 23.
The Tigers' final contest in the month of September will take place at DePauw (Ind.) on Sept. 30.
The month of October will see Sewanee at home for five of the seven contests. A four-game homestand begins on Saturday, Oct. 6 with Rhodes in the Southern Athletic Association opener. The following day, Hendrix will wrap up the weekend.
The homestand continues on Sunday, Oct. 14 (Transylvania) and Monday, Oct. 15 (Roanoke).
The final two road contests away from the Domain will be on Oct. 20 (at Centre) and Oct. 21 (at Transylvania).
The regular season concludes on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 27, when Concordia Wisconsin travels to Tennessee.
The 2018 SAA Tournament will be held on the campus of Hendrix College Friday, Nov. 2 to Sunday, Nov. 4.
In 2017, Sewanee finished with an 8-8 clip, including a 3-3 record inside conference play.
