SEWANEE, Tenn. - The 123rd regular season finale for Sewanee football will be Saturday afternoon, when the Tigers host the Colonels of Centre College for the 69th Homecoming of the University of the South.
WELCOME HOME: This will be the 69th homecoming game for Sewanee football, and the Tigers are 34-34 all-time in homecoming games.
THANK YOU, SENIORS: Saturday will also be Senior Day for the football and cheerleading programs. 10 football student-athletes, Elijah Brooks-Davis, John Cleveland, Drew Dixon, Jay Douglass, Steven Hearn, James Hewell, Glenn Ireland, Parker Jaquillard, Mikey Plancher and Clay Thistlethwaite, one student assistant coach, Justin Cort, and one cheerleader, Sierra Knight, will be honored prior to kickoff on Saturday afternoon.
GOLD DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY: Saturday's meeting with the Colonels will mark the 75th all-time. Centre leads the all-time series, 43-30-1.
TRUST THE PROCESS: In the last three seasons, the football program recorded three wins combined. With three wins this season looking for four, they will look to tie the most wins for the program since the 2013 season when Sewanee finished 4-6.
INTERCEPTION CITY: In 2017, the Sewanee Tigers have posted 21 interceptions, good for tops in the SAA and second nationally out of 243 NCAA Division III teams. With 26 turnovers gained this season, the Purple and Gold are third nationally in the category. There are three Tigers in the top-15 in picking off the quarterback: John Cleveland (T-6th with 6), as well as Wesley Porter and William Phillips (T-11th with five each). These three will look to track down Chalankis Brown, who recorded seven interceptions in 2008.
