Tigers host Millsaps for Senior Day and Homecoming
SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 25, 2013) – The Sewanee football team will welcome No. 24 ranked Millsaps to historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium for the 66th Homecoming at the University of the South, Saturday.
The Tigers and Majors have meet for 66 straight seasons with the Majors holding a 38-25-3 advantage in those games. Sewanee did host Millsaps for Homecoming games in 1947, 1974, and 2006. Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Tiger football and cheerleader student-athletes.
This season, Millsaps enters the game nationally ranked after starting this season 6-0. The only unbeaten Southern Athletic Association (SAA) team leads the conference in 12 statistical categories.
Individually, Millsaps running back Mike Barthelemy earned the SAA Offensive Player of the Week, the Beyond Sports Network, and the D3football.com Running Back of the Week awards after he rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns against Birmingham-Southern last Saturday.
Sewanee welcomes its long-time rival after losing at Centre last Saturday. In that game, the Tigers had a 10-7 halftime lead before the Colonels rallied in the third quarter with 20 unanswered points.
Additionally, junior receiver Charlie Powell continues to play well over the past three weeks. Powell finished with three receptions for a career-high 113 receiving yards and one score against the Colonels.
The Memphis, Tenn., native has set at least one career high stat in the last three games. After a career-high five catches against Birmingham-Southern, Powell added a career-high two touchdowns last week against Rhodes.
