SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Associtation announced its 2010 All-Region teams this week and Sewanee midfielder Megan Welton (Germantown, Tenn., Houston) was named first team All Region for the West Region, while Steffi Renninger (Darnestown, Md., Sidwell Friends) and Hanna Moran (Towson, Md., Towson) received second team honors.

Additionally, Renninger was also selected to participate in the 2010 IWLCA/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game. The game will be held at United Sports Training Center on Saturday, June 12th in Downingtown, Pa. The IWLCA and Under Armour jointly sponsor this event, which showcases the nation's top seniors.

Welton set Sewanee all-time game records this year with seven goals against Birmingham-Southern and season records of 54 goals, 27 assists, 81 points, and season draw controls with 74 – more than double the previous record. She also had 30 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.

Renninger set the single game point record for Sewanee with 10 against BSC (6g, 4a) and season caused turnover record with 33. She finished first for the Tigers in caused turnovers (33), second in ground balls (31), second in points (72), third in goals (47), and added 25 assists and 25 draw controls.

Moran anchored the Sewanee defense this year, finishing the season as the team leader in ground balls (32) and second in draw controls with 27. The 13-4 Tigers are currently 4th in the country in scoring offense at 18.18 goals per game, 5th in total points at 476, and 17th in draw controls at 15.65 per game.

"We had a tremendous year, and our record of 13-4 would not have been accomplished without a tremendous team effort,” said Sewanee head coach Michele Dombrowski. “It is always an honor to have a player receive All-Region recognition, and these three are well-deserving. As terrific as they are individually, it is their ability to bring out the best in their teammates that is key to the continued success of our program. Each player honored is a member of a different class and that bodes well for continued success in the future. We will certainly miss senior Steffi Renninger and value all she and her classmates have done to set the standards for our program."
