SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee softball players
Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) and
Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon) have been honored by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this week, according to Dwayne Hanberry of the SCAC. Warfield was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team and Polena was named All-Conference, honorable mention, for her play this year.
“Carly was voted to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team by her teammates. She took the duty of pitching for the team this season and played with determination. Carly refused to let her teammates down and was one reason that the team pushed on. She played through injury and obstacle and we are proud that she has been honored for her work,” said Sewanee head coach Amber George.
“Erin was named All-SCAC Honorable Mention for her leadership and performance throughout the season,” continued George. “She has started every game since beginning her career at Sewanee. Erin had an .894 fielding percentage and a .373 on base percentage. She is a versatile fielder and has served as a great lead-off batter for the team this season. Erin’s enthusiasm and positive attitude proved to be a great asset to her team this season as well. She is eager to learn and always working to improve her skills which shows in her productivity. We are grateful for Erin’s presence and look forward to all she has to offer over the next two years.”
