SEWANEE, Tenn. --
Megan Welton (Germantown, Tenn., Houston) was once again perfect with two goals on two shots and had a team high draw control count of seven to lead Sewanee's women's lacrosse team to an 18-0 shutout of LaGrange. The Tigers led 15-0 at the half.
Page Carpenter (Baltimore, Md., St. Paul's School for Girls) had a team high three goals and two assists for the Tigers.
Megan Velie (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's- Belfield),
Victoria Friedman (Charlottesville, Va., Episcopal),
Steffi Renninger (Darnestown, Md., Sidwell Friends), and
Olivia Vietor (Bethesda, Md., Episcopal) each chipped in two goals for Sewanee.
Amy Nusbaum (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) was the starting goalie for the Tigers and earned the win.
Theresa Monypeny (Memphis, Tenn., Hutchinson) also played 26 minutes and held the Panthers scoreless.
Sewanee outshot LaGrange 25-6 and had 15 draw controls compared to five for LaGrange. The Tigers picked up 15 ground balls and LaGrange had 10.
Sewanee is now 12-3 and will play Dallas on Sunday. The Tigers are currently ranked fifth in the West Region by the NCAA. LaGrange is 0-8 and will play Dallas in a neutral game on Saturday.
