SEWANEE, Tenn. - Sewanee hosted Mississippi College in DIII men's tennis Saturday morning on the Mountain and after taking a 2-1 lead in doubles, picked up three singles wins for a 5-4 win.
Levi Joy (Weatherford, Tex., Brock),
Philip Kuntz (Atlanta, Ga., Dunwoody) and
Anthony Lioce (Huntsville, Ala., Randolph School) picked up the three singles wins for the Tiger victory. Joy is 6-0 on the week. Another highlight for the Tigers was a repeat performance (2009) of
Andrew Jolley's back to back to back performance on the day. After picking up a doubles win (#4) and a singles win (#7) at the tennis courts, Jolley trotted over to the Mountain Laurel Track and Field Invitational in Harris Stadium and picked up a fifth place finish in the 5000 meter run at a brisk pace of 16:35. He was the top Division III finisher.
The Tigers are 11-10 and will host Washington and Lee on Wednesday before heading to North Little Rock next weekend for the SCAC Championships.
