CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Sewanee men’s and women’s tennis teams played Covenant in Chattanooga on Wednesday and the Sewanee men picked up a 7-2 win to increase their win streak to three. The Sewanee women, currently ranked #30 in the country among DIII teams, stopped the Scots 8-1.
For the men,
Daniel Arnold (Louisville, Ky., DuPont Manuel) and
Levi Joy (Weatherford, Tex., Brock) picked up two wins on the day, while
Philip Kuntz (Atlanta, Ga., Dunwoody) pulled out a narrow 7-5, 6-4 win at #2 singles and
Andrew Jolley (Morristown, Tenn., Morristown West) edged out Brandon Snipes 7-5, 7-5 for the win at #6.
For the 30th-ranked women, The Tigers nearly earned a shutout, but the #2 doubles team of Ramage and Shibley from Covenant edged out
Kathleen Catherall (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall) and
Julia Wood (Tulsa, Okla., Union) 9-8.
