SEWANEE, Tenn. 4/14/10 – The LaGrange Panthers outlasted the Sewanee Tigers by the score of 14-8 today in D-3 baseball play at Montgomery Field in Sewanee.

 

Taylor Irwin (Brentwood, Tenn., Battle Ground Academy) and Joe Reilly (Milton, Ga., Mt. Pisgah) had big days at the plate for the Tigers.  Irwin was 3-for-5, including a two-run homerun and a run scoring single.  Reilly had three hits with a double and two RBI.  Rascoe Dean (Nashville, Tenn., Montgomery Bell Academy) banged out a double and a triple and Thomas Pillow (Ripley, N.C., Ripley) had two hits, including a double.

 

LaGrange outhit the Tigers 16-13.

 

Starting pitcher Chase Riemer (Chattanooga, Ga., Baylor) was charged with the loss working six innings allowing six runs on nine hits.

 

Sewanee falls to 6-24 on the season and will return to action this weekend when they host rival Rhodes College in a three-game SCAC series.  The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
