Warfield, Ginsburg Lead Sewanee to Doubleheader Sweep of Fisk

SEWANEE, Tenn. 4/12/10 – Behind the arm of Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) and the bat of Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep), the Sewanee Tigers won both ends of an afternoon doubleheader over the Fisk Bulldogs.  Sewanee won the opener 8-0 and the second game 12-4.

Warfield was the winning pitcher in both games and Ginsburg had four hits and four RBI in the doubleheader.

 

Warfield scattered three hits and struck out eight Bulldog batters in route to the complete game shutout in the first game.

 

Ginsburg picked up two hits and drove in two runs for Sewanee.  Claire Elliott (Louisville, Ky, Assumption) was 2-for-3 in the game with a double.  Warfield and Caitlin Sneeden (New Providence, N.J., New Providence) also had one hit apiece.

 

In the second game, Ginsburg, Warfield, Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon) and Lindsey Ward (Lutz, Fla., Academy at the Lake) each had two hits.  Nikki Poppiti (Greensboro, Ga.) picked up a single.  Ginsburg had two RBI.

 

Warfield was again the winning pitcher for the Tigers.

 

Sewanee moves to 2-13 on the season.  The Tigers travel to Memphis, Tenn. this weekend for a four-game SCAC series which begins with a doubleheader on Saturday.
