Sewanee Falls in Inaugural SCAC Men's Lacrosse Game

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee played in its first ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men’s lacrosse game* Wednesday night and after trailing late, tied the score at seven with a minute and a half left on a Brendan Eisenbrandt (Pittsburg, Pa., Shady Side Academy) goal. Birmingham-Southern’s Jacob McPherson scored the unassisted game-winner for BSC with 25 seconds left to give the Panthers an 8-7 final win.

Eisenbrandt and freshman Thomas Moore (Dallas, Texas, Episcopal) scored two goals each to lead Sewanee. McPherson led the Panthers with three goals. Travis Brannon (Nashville, Tenn., Montgomery Bell Academy) led Sewanee with five ground balls. Sewanee won 10 of 19 faceoffs. In goal, Sewanee’s Spencer Graves (Lynchburg, Va., Episcopal) got the start and recorded 15 saves, while Cameron Overton had 14 saves for the Panthers.

Sewanee is now 1-7 and 0-1 in the SCAC. Birmingham-Southern is now 4-7 overall. The Tigers will host Whittier on Saturday night and will return to SCAC action against Southwestern at home on April 18.

* 2010 is the first year that the SCAC has sponsored men’s lacrosse as a championship sport.
