SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee women’s lacrosse team moved to 8-2 Monday with a 20-4 rout of visiting Carthage. The Tigers led 13-3 at the half and increased its lead to 16 before the final buzzer sounded.
Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y., John Jay) and
Molly Arnold (Brooklandville, Md., Bryn Mawr) led Sewanee’s attack with three goals apiece. Arnold is leading Sewanee with 32 goals so far this year.
Allison Bland (Houston, Texas, St. John's),
Shelby Bartlett (Summit, N.J., The Pingry School),
Steffi Renninger (Darnestown, Md., Sidwell Friends) and
Olivia Vietor (Bethesda, Md., Episcopal) each scored two goals for Sewanee. Kate Flanagan led Carthage with two goals scored.
In goal,
Amy Nusbaum (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) and
Theresa Monypeny (Memphis, Tenn., Hutchinson) split time in the Sewanee win. Each had three saves. As a team, Sewanee outshot Carthage 34-16 and picked up 23 ground balls compared to 13 for the Lady Reds.
The 8-2 Tigers will next play Agnes Scott at home on April 6 at 7:30 pm. Carthage is now 1-7.
