Tigers Fall to Centre in SCAC Softball Play

DANVILLE, Ky. 3/28/10 – The Centre Colonels knocked off the Sewanee Tigers in a doubleheader played today in Danville, Ky. 

 

In the first game Centre defeated the Tigers 22-0.  Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon) and Lindsey Ward (Lutz, Fla., Academy at the Lake) each had one hit for Sewanee.  Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) was charged with the loss.

 

The Tigers fell to the Colonels by the score of 16-2 in Game 2.  Polena, Caitlin Sneeden (New Providence, N.J., New Providence), Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep) and Claire Elliott (Louisville, Ky, Assumption) all picked up one hit.  Polena drove in the two Sewanee runs.  Nikki Poppiti (Greensboro, Ga.) was the losing pitcher.

 

Sewanee’s record falls to 0-9 overall and 0-8 in SCAC play.  The Tigers will return to action next Friday when they open a four-game SCAC series with DePauw.  Game time for the first game of the Friday doubleheader is 2 pm.
