Sewanee Drops Three Games at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. 3/27/10 – The Centre Colonels took three games today from Sewanee in SCAC softball action in Danville, Ky.  The scores were 13-0, 8-0 and 9-0.

 

A tripleheader was played on Saturday instead of the usual doubleheader due to inclement weather expected in Danville on Sunday.

 

In Game 1 Centre came away with a 13-0 victory.

 

Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon), Virginia Zakas (Atlanta, Ga., Westminster), Caitlin Sneeden (New Providence, N.J., New Providence) and Nikki Poppiti (Greensboro, Ga.)each had one hit for the Tigers.

 

Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) was the losing pitcher.

 

Centre took the second game 8-0.

 

Sewanee had no hits in the game. Warfield suffered the loss

 

In the final game of the day Centre captured the 9-0 victory.

 

Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep) had Sewanee’s only hit in the game.  Warfield was again charged with the loss.

 

Sewanee and Centre will wrap up their four-game SCAC series with a single game tomorrow at 10 am.
