CUMMING, Ga. -- Sewanee ad Greensboro squared off in DIII men's lacrosse Friday at West Forsyth High School in Gumming, Ga. and after leading 6-5 at the half, Greensboro edged out the Tigers 12-8.

Jack Thomasson (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's-Belfield) led Sewanee with four goals and an assist, while Thomas Moore (Dallas, Texas, Episcopal) had two Tiger goals. Carson Pfeifer (Louisville, Ky., Collegiate) and Will Finney (Baltimore, Md., Gilman School) each chipped in a goal for Sewanee, also. Bryan Mercer and Brad Gesser led the Pride with four and three goals, respectively. In goal, Sewanee'sStewart Calder (New Canaan, Conn., New Canaan HS) had nine saves and and Matt Leach logged eight saves for the Pride.

As a team, Sewanee took 26 shots and Greensboro had 36 shots. Sewanee picked up 20 groud balls compared to 31 for Greensboro. Sewanee won nine of 23 faceoffs and Greensboro won 14 faceoffs.

Sewanee is now 0-4 and will play Catholic in Atlanta on Sunday. The Tigers will open SCAC league play against Birmingham-Southern on March 31. Greensboro moves to 5-2.
