FULL RESULTS
ROME, Ga. – The Sewanee men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at Berry College Saturday and came home with wins on both sides. The women topped the Vikings 114-45 and the Sewanee men won 101-59.
For the Tiger women, Caitlyn White (Hopkinsville, Ky., Hopkinsville) won the 1000 freestyle in 12:19.16, Haley Shepherd (Evans, Ga., Evans) won the 200 IM in 2:19.25, and Lizzie Black (Roanoke, Va., Patrick Henry) won the 100 butterfly (1:09.70). Alix Kloster (Norfolk, Va., Maury) was the 100 free winner with a 1:01.60, Katie Wakefield (Fayetteville, Tenn., Lincoln County) won the 100 back with a 1:06.13 and Julie Bennett (Palm Harbor, Fla., Palm Harbor) was the 500 free winner with a mark of 5.38.28. The 400 medlet relay team of Katie Wakefield (Fayetteville, Tenn., Lincoln County), Ann Rene Shores (Shreveport, La., Loyola College Prep), Black and Kloster also took home first place with a finish of 4:30.18 – topping Berry’s 400 medley relay team by 10 seconds.
Individual winners for the Tiger men were Trevor Marquand (Knoxville, Tenn., Farragut) in the 1000 free (12:01.91), Courtland Day (Barnesville, Ga., Upson-Lee) in the 200 free (1.49.91), Marcus Rochelle (Nashville, Tenn., David Lipscomb) in the 200 IM (2:10.40), Philip Link (Atlanta, Ga., Lovett) in the 100 butterfly (58.61), Cole Larson (Kiln, Miss., McCallie) in the 100 free (51.73) and Jaime de la Fuente (Prospect, Ky., Trinity) in the 100 backstroke (57.26). Denton O'Neal (Evergreen, Colo., D'Evelyn), Peter Schildknecht (Cincinatti, Ohio, Moeller), Anthony Caskey (Miami, Fla., Suncoast) and Will Overton (Jacksonville, Fla., Episcopal) won the 400 medley relay in 3:51.07.
Sewanee’s next competition will be the SCAC Championships February 17-20 in Louisville, Ky.
