Sewanee Women Have Six in Double Digits in Millsaps Win

JACKSON, Miss. -- Sewanee played Millsaps in SCAC women's basketball Friday night and with six players in double digits, scored 92 points compared to just 80 for the Majors. Logan Miller (Franklin, Tenn., Christ Presbyterian) charged the Tiger offensive drive with 26 points. She was 7-9 (.778) from behind the three-point line and the Tigers made 14 threes as a team. They lead the nation in three-pointers made per game.

Freshman Juliene Joyner (Franklin, Tenn., Ouachita Christian) scored 14 points for Sewanee, while Kelly Morrison (Bridgeport, W. Va., Notre Dame) and Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep) each had 12 points. Lauren Gulley (Winchester, Tenn., Franklin County) and Virginia Zakas (Atlanta, Ga., Westminster) were also in double digits for Sewanee with 11 points apiece. Dani Kabbes (Chesterfield, Mo., Villa Duchesne) led Sewanee with eight rebounds. Shante' Morgan led Millsaps with a 26 point -10 rebound double double.

Millsaps had a 47-39 edge in field goal percentage and a 54-34 rebounding margin, but Sewanee's 14 three-pointers and 84% free throw percentage earned the win. Millsaps shot only 43% from the line. Sewanee has 11 steals in the contest.

Sewanee is now 6-12 and 2-8 in the SCAC, while Millsaps is still looking for a win at 0-19. Sewanee will play at Hendrix on Sunday and Millsaps will host Oglethorpe.
