JACKSON, Miss. -- Sewanee played at Millsaps Friday and the host Majors got the 55-50 men's basketball win after leading 28-17 at the half. Sewanee outscored Millsaps 33-27 in the second, but its rally was stopped short.

Lewis Affronti (Virginia Beach, Va., Norfolk Academy) led Sewanee's scoring with 16 points. Zack Mulligan (Lynchburg, Va., VES) was also in double digits for Sewanee with 12 points. Point guard Tony Marelle (Atlanta, Ga., Mt. Pisgah) had eight assists and only two turnovers on the night. Marelle also led the defensive efort for Sewanee with three steals.

As a team, Sewanee was 34% accurate from the field, while Millsaps made 42% of its shot from the field. Millsaps also had a 37-25 edge in rebounds. Sewanee was 9-14 from the free throw line (64.3%) and Millsaps made only 47% of its free throws.

Sewanee is now 4-14 and 1-9 in the SCAC. Millsaps is 8-10 and 4-6 in the league. Sewanee will play at Hendrix Sunday and Millsaps will host Oglethorpe.
