2009 Men's Lacrosse: Trine Overcomes Sewanee
Will Finney had two goals and two assists for Sewanee on Sunday.
SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Trine University in men’s lacrosse action on Sunday and ended up at 1-1 on the weekend with a 12-11 loss to the visiting Thunder. Sewanee led much of the game and had an 8-7 lead at halftime. Trine rallied late and overcame the Tigers for the one-goal win with three minutes left to play.

Will Finney (Baltimore, Md., Gilman School), Jack Thomasson (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's-Belfield), Brendan Eisenbrandt (Pittsburg, Pa., Shady Side Academy) and Nate Sell (Dubuque, Iowa, Granville) each contributed two goals to lead the Tiger effort. Spencer Graves (Lynchburg, Va., Episcopal ) logged 10 saves in goal compared to 14 for Jeff Dombek from Trine. Jeremy Sherman led the Thunder with three goals.

Trine outshot Sewanee 44-39 but picked up 38 ground balls compared to 20 for Trine. Sewanee was 19-24 in clear attempts and Trine was 12-19. Trine won 17 of 25 faceoffs. Each team had eight penalties in the physical contest.

Sewanee is now 2-8 and will host Mount St. Joseph on April 18 in the final Tiger home game.
