SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its second annual Men’s and Women’s Cross Country All-Sportsmanship teams. Twenty two men’s and women’s cross country runners were selected to the 2009 squad, according to Dwayne Hanberry, commissioner of the SCAC. Sewanee runners Paul Dixon (St. Louis, Mo., St. Louis Priory) and Kendra Tippens (Winston, Ga., RS Alexander) were among the runners honored.
“Paul and Kendra were both very selfless runners this season,” said veteran Sewanee coach Jeff Heitzenrater. “As captains, they did a great job of keeping an eye on the team and helping kepp their tem members focused on goals. These are two four-year runners who set a great example for our team and for runners in the future.”
The SCAC is placing a special emphasis on sportsmanship this year and each head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
