Tigers Last SCAC Contest Ends a Draw; Finish with Best Conference Record Since 2004

ATLANTA, Ga. 11/7/09 - A physical match between the Sewanee Tigers and the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels ended in a draw at 1-1.

Sewanee drew first blood in the 77th minute of play with a Garrett Schlosser (Nashville, Tenn., MLK) goal. Sewanee’s 1-0 lead wouldn’t last long though as Oglethorpe’s EJ Ovie-Ogodo quickly responded four minutes later to put one in the net unassisted for the Petrels.

The Petrels outshot Sewanee 8-2. There were 17 fouls against Sewanee compared to 16 for Oglethorpe. Sewanee had 3 corner kick opportunities while the Petrels had 2.

Oglethorpe ends their season at 6-10-3. The Tigers will go into their final match tomorrow at Emory University with a record of 8-9-1. The Tigers conference record stands at 4-5-1 with the conclusion of conference play, their best conference record since the 2004 season.
