SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Southwestern scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute Friday night to break the long-standing 1-1 tie and get the 2-1 SCAC men's soccer win over Sewanee. Seniors Patrick Johnson (Cleveland, Tenn., McCallie), Matt O'Brien (Lawrenceville, Ga., Collins Hill) and Henry Kiser (Marietta, Ga., Marietta) were honored before the match for Senior Day.

After the Pirates took the lead in the 10th minute, Sewanee's Stuart Maxey (Roanoke, Va., Salem) scored on a header from a Garrett Schlosser (Nashville, Tenn., MLK) corner kick to tie the score. The 1-1 deadlock lasted 30 minutes before Southwestern's Alex Keller got the winner.

Southwestern outshot Sewanee 10-8 on the day and took three corners. Sewanee had five corer kick opportunities. Chris Grover (Collierville, Tenn., St. George's) was the goalie of record for Sewanee and had four saves. Nick pierce had three saves in the win for Southwestern.

Sewanee is now 8-8. The Tigers are 4-4 in the SCAC and will host Trinity on Sunday in their final home match.
