Trinity Tops Sewanee in SCAC Football

SAN ANTONIO -- Sewanee played at 5-1 Trinity Saturday and a Chris Baer 30-yard TD in the first quarter was the opening score for TU that would set the tone for the 40-0 Trinity win. Trinity led 30-0 at the half.

Trinity earned 17 first downs in the contest, while Sewanee had six. Trinity gained 315 yards total offense, while Sewanee had 42. Trinity had the time of possession edge, too, with a 31:00 TOP. Sewanee's Patrick Shelton (Hickory, N.C., Hickory) completed four passes for 20 yards to lead the Sewanee offense. Baer led Trinity's offense with 92 yards rushing.

Defensively, J.D. Crabtree (Tullahoma, Tenn., Tullahoma) led Sewanee with 11 total tackles, while Matt Moore had 10. Crabtree broke up three passes on the day, too. For Trinity, Dennis Grebe had seven tackles to lead. The 0-6 purple Tigers will host Birmingham-Southern next weekend for the annual Sewanee Athletics Hall of Fame weekend.
