SEWANEE, Tenn. 10/16/09 – Sewanee junior Chris Hague (Kensington, Md., Bullis) pulled away from the rest of the field to finish first in the men's race at the Tiger Twilight Invitational held today at the rain-soaked Sewanee Golf Club.

 

Hague covered the 8K course in 27:10.  Other strong Sewanee performances were turned in by Andrew Jolley (Morristown, Tenn., Morristown West) and Clay Bond (Atlanta, Ga., Lovett).  Jolley posted a time of 28:27 and Bond came across the line in 28:42 good for fifth and sixth respectively.

 

Former Sewanee cross country runner Ian Turner, running for the Sewanee Athletic Club, finished third with a time of 27:50.

 

Birmingham Southern College edged out Sewanee for team honors.

 

In the women’s 6K race Haley Evans of the University of Montevallo was the individual winner as Montevallo took home the team title.

 

Top 10 finishers for Sewanee were Mitzi Harrington (Warner, N.H., Dana Hall) at third and Sarah Haroldson (New Bern, N.C., St. Andrew's) at eighth.

 

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, October 31 in Conyers, GA. at the SCAC Championships, hosted by Oglethorpe University
