SAA Announces Instagram Takeover for Conference Institutions

SAA Release | Sewanee Athletics Social Media

ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) will hand over the reins of the league's Instagram account to our conference institutions throughout the fall semester. Beginning on Friday, Sept. 14, SAA core members will have their opportunity to share their experiences through pictures, videos, and stories.

Sewanee will take over the conference's Instagram account the weekend of Nov. 2-4.

"Social media has come a long way in the last 10 years, and not only has Instagram been a big impact to our student-athletes and young alumni, it is a major factor for prospective student-athletes as well," said Director of Athletic Communications Layton Jackson. "The opportunity that the SAA has given us with their Instagram account will be a great chance to provide the conference a glimpse into the life of our student-athletes."

The Sewanee Instagram account has seen its followers doubled in the last year with the addition of gameday graphics, video highlights and #SewaneeW graphics when each Sewanee team wins a contest.

Currently, 17 of our teams are active on Instagram. Click on the link above for more information on social media channels for each sport.

"Having our SAA schools take over our Instagram account will give fans a unique behind-the-scenes perspective into the lives of our student-athletes," said SAA Associate Commissioner Clayton Felts. "From pregame rituals, to traveling to competitions, to postgame celebrations, followers of @SAA_Sports will see it all through the eyes of each school."

The first institution takeover is set for September 14-16.

Sewanee will announce sports participating at a later date.
